Summer letter to parents

Dear TTK Parents,

Thank you for a wonderful summer.

We started our week with the famous walk to South Arm Park. This year we all made great time and our bikers had a blast riding there with Taiki. Spree got the opportunity to take over the Clubhouse on Mondays, taking control of everything from the playground to the video games.

Tuesdays we kicked off the day with our classes – kids had the chance to learn sports skills with Jasmine, do some science with Julia, go for a bike or walking trip with Taiki, do an art project with Patricia or try their hand at baking with Sarah. Our afternoons were spent with a special guest. This year’s biggest hit was Yukon Dan who taught the kids how to pan for gold! Club 9 got to take off on their own to explore the many parks that Richmond has to offer.

Our big out trip took place each week on Wednesdays. Playland is always a hit of course, and we were all very grateful for the fans, misters and water stations in this year’s heat! Many of our group even managed to do the Grouse Grind this summer in just under 2 hours, while the rest of us explored the top of the mountain, catching the Birds of Prey or Lumberjack shows.

Thursdays were all about Clubhouse Challenge Day – from travelling the world with our “passports,” to building the best zoo, to surviving the water obstacle course, we had a blast switching it up each week. Spree took off Thursdays to explore Richmond’s waterparks, having lots of fun in the sun.

The last day of the week was always about the most important activity: lunch. Sarah was always ready after our community walk to fill our hungry stomachs with chicken fingers, spaghetti and more! Fridays were also a special day for Club 9 as this was their chance to head out of Richmond to all kinds of places, including Kits Beach, Stanley Park and Castle Fun Park!

Our MacCorkindale program in Vancouver also had a fantastic summer. Janet, Korey and Tom kept them busy all week with a variety of activities. From baking, to biking, to swimming at Central Park, to exploring the many parts of their city. Some of their favourite trips include Norquay Park, Granville Island, Queen Elizabeth Park and of course Uncle Willy’s.

We hope to see you all again next summer!

Sincerely,

Your Summer Managers
