Hello TTK Families!
This week we are bringing you another installment of our blog series – staff favourite activities!
Next up is… Me, Stacey!
I have been working with Tomorrow’s Topkids since 2015 as our Senior Program Manager. You can usually find me taking the Leaders for outings, visiting centres in the afternoon, or running our summer program.
My favourite go-to group game is… Statues!
You might know this game by the names “sneaky statues,” “museum” or “night guard.”
I like to call it “Statues” because that’s what you’re trying to be – still like a statue.
One person is chosen to be the guard – the person walking around the museum at night making sure nothing is out of order. They have to walk around the play area watching for any movement. They are not allowed to touch any of the statues (are you allowed to touch anything in a museum?) and should not get too close to any one statue.
The rest of the players are statues – they must be completely frozen in silly positions when the guard looks in their direction. The sillier their pose, the more fun! I love being a statue that moves between lots of different positions to make the guard laugh.
Statues are allowed to breath, blink, sneeze, cough, etc. but statues cannot talk, laugh or get caught moving! If the guard sees a statue moving, they call them out and that person is out until the next round. Statues need to trust the guard and the guard needs to play fair.
This is a great game to play because it can be as physical as you want it to be – you can stand on one foot, in a yoga pose, in a lunge, or stand still with a silly face. All ages can play this game so its also a great game to get everyone involved. You only need 2 people to play, but its more fun with 4 or more.
We hope you try this game. Have fun!
