Hello TTK Families!
We are back with another staff favourite activity today with… Kristen!
Kristen first started working with TTK in early 2017 at our Grauer Clubhouse. She left us for a little while but we were so excited to welcome her back in September of 2019. These days you can find her at our Spul’u’kwuks or Jessie Wowk Clubhouses – usually in the midst of an art project or group game!
Kristen says she likes to spend her energy playing various tag games with the children and supports their creativity with arts and crafts. Her favourite tag game is a classic – Everybody’s It!
Everybody’s It is a tag game known by many names. There are lots of variations and different names for this game but here is how we usually play at TTK!
Set up a play area – usually a small section of a field or the gym. If you have lots of players you will want a large play area, but if you don’t have too many you will want to keep it small so it isn’t too tough!
3 – 2 – 1 – Go! Everyone is it so… run away from everyone, try not to get tagged, while trying to tag everyone else!
What do you do if you tag at the same time?
Any time there is a disagreement over who-tagged-who we always default to the classic Rock Paper Scissors rule. Winner stays in the game!
What do you do once you get tagged?
Here’s where our variations take over!
In the classic game, once you’re tagged you are automatically out, you leave the playing area and watch the rest of the game.
In the Lights On Lights Off variation, when you are tagged you sit down where you were tagged and then you need to watch the person who tagged you. If they are tagged, you get to rejoin the game!
You can also play a timed-round of the game, to see how many people you can tag in under three minutes, but we have found there is a lot of exaggeration in this variation!
Happy Tagging!
