Staff Favourite Anthony

Hello TTK Families!

Today we are bringing you Anthony’s favourite activity.

Anthony has been with TTK since 2006 and has worked at every single one of our centres! You can usually find him at our Ferris Clubhouse, playing tag with our many kindergartens or leading the kids in an art activity. He is known across TTK for making the best paper airplanes.

One of the COOLEST things that Anthony makes are also super simple – melty bead spinning tops!

All you need is hot beads, a hexagon, circle or star frame, an iron and a thumb tack!

You can make any pattern you like but a spiral looks especially cool when it spins (see below!)

Once you are happy with your design, iron it and let it cool flat. Sometimes hot beads will curl a little while they cool so you can always sandwich your hot beads in parchment paper under a book to ensure it cools flat.

When its solid, have an adult push a thumb tack through the middle and spin!

Love things that spin but don’t have hot beads at home? Anthony’s got another fun craft for you!

Pinwheels are always a fun activity on a sunny day! You need two square pieces of coloured paper, a thumb tack, a straw, and a windy day!

Making sure to not cut all the way across (leaving space in the middle) cut diagonally towards the centre from each corner of each square. Lay one square on top of the other at an angle. Gather corners into the centre one at a time, following around in a circle.

Using your thumb tack, poke through the middle to hold all the corners together. Poke through the straw and secure with some tape or sticky tack.

Blow on your pinwheel! If it doesn’t spin, loosen up the back of your pinwheel to make sure there is space for it to spin.

Enjoy!
