Hello TTK families, we hope you are all settled and enjoying the new school year. It has been fun to see new and familiar faces at our before and after school care programs. Summer Adventures 2024 was a great time that featured fun fieldtrips to Big Splash and Playland, special guests like the Richmond Fire Department; and neighbourhood walks to explore the communities surrounding our clubhouses in Richmond and Vancouver .
The warm weather is now gone but that does not mean the fun TTK activities go away. We have entered a new season that comes with falling leaves, rain, spooky season, and putting up jack-o-lanterns. When most people think of Halloween I’m sure they think of carving pumpkins, going to haunted houses, and watching scary movies. But do you ever wonder how you can curate the perfect Halloween day? Well, no more wondering because we are about to present the perfect Halloween day for you.
Imagine this, the weather is chilly and it’s raining out. Typical Vancouver weather; but don’t let that stop you! Make yourself a nice hearty breakfast like pancakes or waffles and pair it with a warm beverage like hot chocolate or tea. After your breakfast is complete, it’s time to carve your pumpkin and make your jack-o-lantern! This should take you no time because you are an expert at cleaning up your pumpkin and decorating the spooky face for your jack-o-lantern.
Next, move on to putting up your scary ghost figures like our Ferris Clubhouse did. They are in full Halloween mode and if you want to be, you will also add a scarecrow display to your decorations, also done by our Ferris Clubhouse.
It has taken you quite some time to finish putting the rest of your Halloween decorations around the house but now you’re done. But wait, it’s still raining. That should not be much of a problem since you still have a couple of hours before you have to meet your friends at your local haunted house. What can you do in the meantime? How about some Halloween artwork? The great thing about the artwork our MacCorkindale Clubhouse did is that you can make yours as simple as you like. You will only need a few supplies like a pencil, a couple of pencil crayons, preferably red, yellow, orange, brown, black and green. Don’t forget your white paper. Now that you have all of your supplies, you can draw your scary Halloween house and your scary jack-o-lantern. Draw as many different houses and jack-o-lanterns as you like and before you know it, it will be time to meet your friends at your local haunted house to enjoy more scary and fun Halloween activities.
The rainy days might seem boring but you can still make the best of your day. Just remember to be safe and have fun!
