Summer Letter to the Parents

Dear TTK parents,

Thank you all for an amazing summer! We beat the heat (and the smoke) and made the most of those fast 9 weeks of camp.

We started our weeks with Clubhouse and Club 9 heading out to South Arm park and pool. Megan could be seen biking with her loyal crew while the rest of us walked the distance. Spree took over the Clubhouse on Mondays, playing video games and trying to stay cool with our splash pad outside.

Tuesdays we started off with “Knowledge is Power” – an opportunity to try out some new skills like soccer drills with Deanica, exploring the neighbourhood with Megan, trying out some science explosions with Tulin, yoga or drama practice with Stacy, baking with Alice and art with Stacey or Tatiana. In the afternoon we had a special guest come to visit, our stand-out favourites were definitely the Mobile Petting Zoo and our dance instructor Ms. M!

Our big trip days were Wednesdays and we went to a lot of exciting places this year. At Centennial Beach we lucked out and had low tide. We walked out for kilometers and still didn’t find the water. Playland we got to visit twice and everyone enjoyed trying out new rides. We even checked out Big Splash and were excited to find out our favourite slides were still there, just with a few upgrades!

New this year on Thursday Clubhouse tried out “Let the Games Begin” which was our group challenge activity in the afternoon. From boat-building competitions, to invention conventions, to obstacle courses and more we worked in teams and had a blast. One of our favourite challenges was the Passport day where we got to “travel the world” and get stamps in our passports along the way.

Spree took to our local waterparks on Thursday enjoying the sun at Dixon park, King George Park and Steveston Waterpark. Club 9 got to explore Richmond on their own Thursdays as well enjoying some time at Minoru Pool, E-Spot Arcade, going to Dairy Queen and even on a Canada Line scavenger hunt!

Fridays Clubhouse would go on a walk to a local park, such as Blundell or Errington School, coming back just in time for one of Alice’s delicious lunches. Spree took the day to relax, eat lunch and watch a movie. Club 9 got to take off on their own adventure on Fridays – going as far away as Castle Fun Park!

Our Vancouver program at MacCorkindale Clubhouse had a great summer too. Tom, Janet and Korey made a great team. Mac started the week swimming at Central Park, were mad scientists on Tuesdays, joined the Richmond crew on Wednesdays, played group games and ate lunch on Thursdays, and went exploring Vancouver on Fridays. Some of their favourite trips were Granville Island Waterpark, Norquay Park and Rumble Water park.

Thank you all for an unforgettable summer!
Sincerely,
Your Summer Managers
Stacey, Sonny and Bruce
