Leaders Give Back Projects 2023

Leaders Give Back Projects 2023

Each spring our Leaders work hard on their annual Give Back Project – they first identify a need in their community, then an organization that helps serve that need, and then finally a project they can do to support that organization. The projects are entirely planned, organized and delivered by our Leaders in grades 4-7!

This year our Leaders raised $1626.55 and collected 12 huge boxes of donations for 8 different charities and organizations serving Richmond and Greater Vancouver!

Dropping off Diefenbaker’s donations at the RAPS cat sanctuary!

This year we had 54 Leaders in total at 8 centres. They started working on their Give Back Projects before Spring Break, brainstorming a cause they care about and a way they thought they could help. The actual project took place over the month of May, with each centre organizing their own schedule and advertising.

Our Diefenbaker Leaders were brand-new to all things TTK but they were able to collect 5 large boxes of donations for the RAPS Cat Sanctuary and we were able to do an in-person drop-off where we got to meet the cats!

Our Ferris Leaders organized a freezie sale for the Richmond Food Bank and were able to raise $336.30 – we will donate this online and the Food Bank can stretch “each dollar donated into about $6 worth of food”.

Our Jessie Wowk Clubhouse had only one Leader this year, yet she was able to include her entire centre in collecting donations of toys and games for the Richmond Centre for Disability Drop-In Centre and we took a group from Wowk to drop off in person! We are invited back this summer to see the toys and games in action.

Our MacCorkindale Leaders held a bake sale, raising $112.05 for Canuck House. The kids sold out in 17 minutes and were disappointed they hadn’t made more, but learned about putting in some more work next year.

Our Errington Leaders with their donations for the Salvation Army!

Our McKinney Leaders made shrinky-dink key chains to raise money for Kids Help Phone, collecting $496 in total.

Our Spul’u’kwuks Leaders  chose to fund-raise for  the Aboriginal Mother Centre Society. They held a lemonade and ice cream sale over two days and raised $510.80.

Our Errington Leaders collected 4 large boxes of donations including toiletries and clothing that we dropped off in-person with the Salvation Army Emergency Shelter in Richmond. We learned it is the only shelter of its kind in Richmond!

Finally, our Westwind centre organized a bake sale and fund-raised $171.40 for the Minoru Senior Living Centre. We were able to drop off our donations in person, meet some of the residents, and even ran into a former TTK staff member!

Congratulations to all our Leaders!
We can’t wait to see what you come up with next year!
