COVID-19 TTK Update March 18

March 18, 2020

Dear TTK Families,

Thank you for your patience as we have been evaluating the COVID-19 situation and what it means for our families and community.

This letter contains a lot of information. Please read it fully and carefully as this will outline our decisions over the next coming days, weeks and months.

Our continued care

We will re-open for current participants who require care on Monday, March 23rd. We understand that many of our families work in essential services and are unable to take time off or work from home. We ask that anyone that is able to keep their child(ren) at home do so. In an effort to promote social distancing, we will be operating at a limited capacity with a maximum of 20 participants per centre for limited hours, 8:00am-5:00pm.

Registration forms will be sent out on a week-by-week basis. As this is an ever-evolving situation, we will re-evaluate our ability to provide care weekly. It is our goal to remain open, provided the Health Authority maintains this is in the best interest of all our participants and staff.

We understand many parents/guardians had already chosen to take Spring Break to spend with their families. If you believe that you will require care after March 30th, please email Michael Starchuk at mstarchuk@ttk.org. This will help us to assess the needs of our families moving forward.

Strategies for cleanliness

Any child or staff exhibiting any symptoms of a cold, flu, or COVID-19; will be sent home for a minimum of 14 days. These symptoms include coughing, sneezing, sniffling, sore throat, body aches and/or fever.

Staff have been sanitizing centre surfaces and will continue to do so throughout the day. Children have been washing their hands under adult supervision anytime they go from one room to another or outside to inside. These measures will continue and staff will be modelling these behaviours to the children. To support us in working to ensure healthy centres, we ask that parents/guardians allow us to escort their children inside for drop-off and bring them outside to parents/guardians when it is time for pick-up. Please knock on doors and wait outside for a staff member to pick-up or release your child(ren).

Please see Vancouver Coastal Health’s Chief Medical Officer’s recommendations for child care programs at the following link: https://www.ttk.org/blog

Refunds

We will be providing refunds or credits to families for any care we were unable to provide (March 16th-20th, 2020) or due to other closures. At this time, we will not be charging the April monthly fee. March 15th credit cards were not processed. You will be charged half of your regular monthly fee for the first half of March.

Please be patient with us as we process these refunds and credits, as they could take a few weeks. Our focus at this time will be on registrations for those who need care.

Future Enrollment

Choosing to not attend now will not impact your future enrollment with Tomorrow’s Topkids. You will not be charged for anything until school is back in session. If you wish to withdraw from our programs please email registration@ttk.org.

This is an unprecedented and challenging time and we are appreciative of the overwhelming support from our families. Please remember we are all in this together.
